Memebers Participate in State Ice Rescue Technician Class

JANUARY 24 - FF/AEMT-CC Adam Leggett and EMT-B Matt Carpenter spent the weekend participating in the Ice and Cold Water Rescue-Technician class held in Lisbon and taught by NYS OFPC Rescue instructors. Fourth Fire in Nine Days Damages House on Gouverneur Street

DECEMBER 31 - Members had not yet gotten a full nights sleep since the last fire when the tones dropped again for a reported house fire at 26 Gouverneur Street. The three Assistant Chiefs arrived on scene to find a 2 story wood frame dwelling with heavy smoke pushing from the eaves, and fire going up the outside wall in the rear. Early Morning Fire Destroys Trailer

DECEMBER 30 - The tones dropped at 2240 hours for a reported house fire at 100 CR 15, just off USH 11. DeKalb Junction Fire had also been dispatched to this incident and had advised Central Dispatch that the call was actually in the town of Canton. DECEMBER 26 - At 0240 hours, the members of Canton Fire And Rescue were awakened by Central Dispatch for a reported house fire at 1743 SH 68, near Lagndon's Corners. Memebrs left their homes to find everything coated in a sheet of ice and a steady freezing rain falling. Chimney Fire on Lincoln Street

DECEMBER 24 - Central Dispatch activated the tones at 2217 for a reported chimney fire at 20 Lincoln Street in the Village of Canton. Engine 7 arrived on scene at 2225 to find a masonry chimney that had fire coming from the top. Members laddered the roof and cleaned the chimney out using chimney brushes and were able to extinguish the fire. The homeowner reported that they had been burning Christmas boxes in the ...
