Heavy Rains Cause Localized Flooding

Heavy downpours caused some localized flooding, resulting in the detouring of USH 11 for several hours. As the rains fell, Canton Fire was dispatched to the Best Western to assist with flooding conditions on the lower level. Canton Fire & Rescue Participates In Search

Members of Canton Fire and Rescue responded to the request for assistance in searching for the two missing Amish girls in Heuvelton. Three two person crews, each with a thermal imaging camera, joined over 120 other firefighters from around the county in the mobilization to conduct a night search along the roadsides using thermal imaging cameras. The St. Lawrence Co. Sheriff's has activated the New York State AMBER Alert and is investigating a confirmed child abduction that occurred on State Hwy. 812/Mt. Alone Rd., in Town of Oswegatchie at about 7:20 PM on 8/13/2014.
