Today marks the end of Fire Prevention Week at Canton Central School. We want to take this opportunity to thank the teachers and staff for allowing us the opportunity to speak with their students about such an important topic. Fire prevention shouldn't be something we think about one week in October, it should be year round.

Throughout the week students in the Pre-K and Kindergarten program visited the station. Fire Prevention Officer and Assistant Chief Dan Aldous and Firefighter David Zuhlsdorf conducted fire prevention education at the school while Fire Prevention Officer Matt Kroeger provided station tours to visiting groups. Students had the opportunity to tour trucks, have their blood pressure checked in an ambulance, and learn about how having a plan to escape and meet up with their family outsude during a fire is important.

Parents, please take some time to review the materials we sent home with your child. It could save their lives. Have a meeting spot, have a plan, check your smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. You build confidence in what we have taught them by letting them teach you. When seconds count we want your little ones to know how to get out of a bad situation and get help.

A big thank you to all members who helped out this week, we couldn't have done it without you!
