It was a cold morning as Canton Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a reported vehicle fire in the Price Chopper parking lot on East Main Street at 0540 hours. As personnel were responding to the station, further information was provided that the vehicle was a tractor trailer. Assistant Chief Russell Lawrence arrived on scene, confirmed a working vehicle fire, and assumed command. Engine 7 was out of service at 0546 and arrived on scene three minutes later. Crews quickly knocked down the fire, preventing any further extension, aided by additional personnel from Rescue 1 and Tanker 20. Ambulance 132 stood by and additional assistance was provided by Canton PD, SLC Sheriff's Office, and the NY State Police.
