The tones dropped at 2240 hours for a reported house fire at 100 CR 15, just off USH 11. DeKalb Junction Fire had also been dispatched to this incident and had advised Central Dispatch that the call was actually in the town of Canton. Intial reports from Central Dispatch were that there were possibly residents inside the structure. Engine 6 was enroute at 2249 and covered the 9 miles to the scene as quickly as possible, arriving on scene at 2300 hours. DeKalb Junction Fire, being less that 3 miles from the incident location, had already pulled up the driveway and begun initial attack. Engine 6 backed up the driveway and laid out to the road for watersupply operations. A porta tank was set up and Engine 6 drafted from it and pumped to Dekalb Engine 78. Tankers shuttled water fromt eh Dekalb Junction Fire Station to the fire scene, a distance of about 3 miles. Extensive overhaul operations took place once the bulk of the fire was knocked down. It was confirmed that no one was home at the time of the fire. Firefighters were hampered in their efforts somewhat by the -15 degree F temperature. There were no injuries reported and all Canton personnel were back in service at 0152 hours. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by members of the St. Lawrence County Fire Investigation Team.
