Central Dispatch activated the tones at 2217 for a reported chimney fire at 20 Lincoln Street in the Village of Canton. Engine 7 arrived on scene at 2225 to find a masonry chimney that had fire coming from the top. Members laddered the roof and cleaned the chimney out using chimney brushes and were able to extinguish the fire. The homeowner reported that they had been burning Christmas boxes in the fireplace and several pieces of box had made their way up the chimney. The wall were checked for extension and, with none being found, all units were back in service at 2304 hours.
