A quiet Friday afternoon for Canton Fire/Rescue was interrupted by the tones being dropped for a 2 car motor vehicle collision at USH 11 and the Eddy-Pyrites Road, with possible serious injuries and entrapment. Assistant Chief Johnson was immediately en route and arrived on scene reporting a 2 car T-Bone accident, with one patient still trapped inside of one of the vehicles. Chief Johnson requested Rescue 1 to the scene to go to work with the Jaws of Life to gain an entrance into the vehicle for EMS personnel to begin patient care. Extrication time only took about 15 minutes for Canton firefighters and only one patient was transported with a few internal injuries from the collision to Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Mutual Aid for traffic control was provided by Dekalb Junction Fire, as well as assistance by St Lawrence County Emergency Services Director (Car 1) Martin J. Hassett.
