Car Into Building On Main Street
By Fire Chief Robert Crowe
September 24, 2019

At 2319 hours, Canton Fire & Rescue was alerted to a reported motor vehicle accident on Main Street in front of Sergi's Pizzeria. Initial reports were of a vehicle into a building. Assistant Chief Shawn McGregor was enroute within minutes and arrived on scene at 2324 to find a vehicle on the sidewalk in front of Josie's Pizzeria that has apparently struck the building causing significant damage to the vehicle and the building. Ambulance 133 arrived at 2326 with Rescue 1 close behind. Patient care was initiated immediately and members began clearing debris from around the vehicle to allow for patient removal. Once the patient was assisted out of the vehicle and transferred to the ambulance, and the police investigation concluded, members began the task of clearing the concrete and metal debris from the sidewalk. CFR personnel spent a significant amount of time assisting the building owner in securing their property and consolidating all the debris in one pile for removal in the morning. Members put a tarp in place over a broken plate glass window and the area was cordoned off to prevent pedestrians from being injured. All units were back in service at 0031 hours. A special thank you goes out to Sergi's for providing 2 large pizzas to our members after the incident.

Units: Rescue 1 (M.McGregor), Rescue 36 (Cote), Ambulance 133 (Stacy)
Mutual Aid: Canton PD, St.Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, SLU Security

Looks like accident was in front of Josie’s pizzeria and damage to their window.
Great job to all involved getting this taken care of.
